Clear, everyday language

Pension terminology can feel dense. We explain each concept in plain terms, without jargon or pressure, so you leave better informed than you arrived.

You stay in control

We organise; you decide. Every document remains yours throughout. We do not hold, copy, or act on any of your papers without your explicit instruction.

Directed to the right source

We map out which official agencies, consulates, and helplines apply to your situation so that when you are ready to act, you know exactly where to go.

A calm, unhurried setting

Sessions run at a pace that suits you. Retirement planning can feel unsettling; our environment is deliberately quiet and focused so you can think clearly.

No advice that requires licensing

Frequently Asked

Common questions

What exactly does Cairn do? +
Cairn is an information and document-organisation service. We help you sort your existing retirement and pension papers into a clear order, explain how pension arrangements generally work in plain language, and point you toward the official offices or helplines relevant to your situation. We do not provide financial, legal, or investment advice, and we do not represent you before any body.
Do you handle or keep any of my documents? +
No. Your documents stay with you at all times. During a session we may help you arrange and label them, but we do not take them away, photocopy them for our records, or store any personal information beyond what is necessary to book and confirm your appointment.
How long does a typical session take? +
The Paper Trail Organisation session generally runs between 90 minutes and two hours, depending on the volume of documents you bring. The Retirement Frameworks Explained talk is usually around 60–75 minutes. The Complete Organise-and-Signpost Programme is structured across a longer appointment, typically half a day, and we confirm timing when you book.
I am an expatriate living in Thailand — can you help? +
Yes, many of the people who visit us are expatriates navigating pension arrangements from their home country while residing in Thailand. We are familiar with the general landscape many retirees here face, and our signpost directory covers key embassies, consular sections, and international pension enquiry lines. We cannot give country-specific advice, but we can help you find your way to the right official source.
What documents should I bring to a session? +
Bring whatever paperwork you have related to your retirement or pension — statements, award letters, policy documents, correspondence with pension providers or government bodies, and any checklists you may already have. There is no fixed list; part of the session is working out together what you have and what may be worth requesting from the relevant authority.
How do I pay, and is there a cancellation policy? +
Payment is accepted by cash (Thai Baht) or bank transfer, confirmed when you book. We ask for at least 48 hours' notice if you need to reschedule. Please get in touch directly if your circumstances change and we will do our best to find a suitable alternative time.
